Recycled Cotton Yarn: Honduras Origin for Indian Textile Manufacturers

Recycled cotton yarn produced from Honduras post-industrial textile waste: open-end spun counts 6-12s for industrial applications, and ring-spun counts 16-24s for knitwear blending. Available in natural white (KYW), color (KY2), and polycotton blends (KYP). Exported in palletized cones or cheese format, shipped FOB Puerto Cortes at $0.80-1.20/kg depending on count and composition. HS 5510 classification for customs.

Finished Recycled Yarn vs. Waste-to-Yarn: Why Indian Mills Increasingly Import Both

Indian textile manufacturers face a strategic choice on recycled content sourcing: (1) import cotton waste and spin internally, capturing the full margin but requiring spinning capacity and recycled-content certification work; or (2) import finished recycled yarn ready to feed into knitting or weaving, higher cost per kilogram but zero processing investment. For export-oriented knitwear producers in Tirupur supplying European brands with Global Recycled Standard (GRS) requirements, option 2 is increasingly attractive because our Honduras recycled yarn comes with full chain-of-custody documentation from post-industrial source through spinning, eliminating the buyer's need to manage waste procurement and recycled-content verification themselves. Our mill processes Honduras cotton waste (same material we export under HS 5202) through open-end and ring-spinning lines to produce counts 6-24s. Quality characteristics: CV% for count variation 2.5-4.5% (compared to 5-8% for typical shoddy yarn from Indian Panipat mills), tensile strength 8-14 g/tex depending on count, hairiness index 4-6 in ring-spun grades. Pricing runs $0.80-1.20/kg FOB versus $1.80-2.50/kg for equivalent GRS-certified yarn from Turkey or Portugal — a 40-55% savings for Indian buyers.

Applications in Indian Mills

Tirupur Knitwear Export Production

Recycled cotton yarn for T-shirts, hoodies, and activewear destined for European markets with GRS or Recycled Content Standard requirements. Ring-spun grades (16-24s) preferred for knit quality.

Blanket and Home Textile Weaving (Panipat)

Open-end recycled yarn (counts 6-10s) for blanket weaving, dhurry production, and industrial fabrics. Color grades (KY2) accept dye absorption and allow vibrant blanket palette.

Socks and Hosiery Manufacturing

Fine-count recycled cotton yarn blended with virgin cotton for sock production in Hosiery Cluster clusters. Natural white grade (KYW) preserves sock color consistency across batches.

Technical Fabrics and Industrial Weaving

Recycled yarn for canvas, tarpaulin, and industrial cotton fabrics where GRS certification provides market premium. Polycotton blend (KYP) offers durability for technical end uses.

Frequently Asked Questions

What yarn counts and compositions do you produce?

Open-end spun: counts 6s, 8s, 10s, 12s in 100% recycled cotton (KYW white, KY2 color). Ring-spun: counts 16s, 20s, 24s, 30s in 100% cotton and 65/35 polycotton blends (KYP). Tensile strength 8-14 g/tex, CV% for count variation 2.5-4.5%, twist per inch standard 3.5-4.5 TPI for weaving counts, 4-5 TPI for knitting counts. Custom counts available for container-volume orders.

Do your recycled yarns carry GRS or Recycled Content Standard certification?

Our current production carries Transaction Certificates under Recycled Content Standard (RCS) issued by Control Union. GRS certification is in process (expected Q3 2026 — audit scheduled for Q2). For Indian manufacturers requiring GRS for European brand buyers, we can supply RCS-certified yarn now and migrate to GRS upon certification completion. Chain of custody from post-industrial waste source through spinning is fully documented.

What are the logistics specifics for yarn shipments to India?

Yarn cones palletized on 40x48in pallets, 48 cones per pallet, 18-20 pallets per 20ft container (approximately 11,000-13,000 kg net). Transit Puerto Cortes to Nhava Sheva: 30-35 days direct sailing via Suez. We provide HS code 5510.12 (cotton yarn containing 85% or more cotton, not for retail sale), typical BCD 20% + IGST 12% + Social Welfare Surcharge — effective duty around 35% on CIF. Advance Authorization scheme available for export-oriented manufacturers to reduce duty burden.
